Last night, as we sat at the dinner table and acted like we were actually getting work done (we'll call it researching), we started to discuss our Diva Day makeup looks from past years and realized we actually did a pretty damn good job on ourselves *insert hair flip here*.
"I really am so pleased with how freakin' good we all looked last year."
"Wait, yeah, and that other year with pretty/creepy makeup!"
Thinking back on what are probably the most hectic hours/minutes/seconds leading up to Diva Day and really only remembering just how wild the morning-of is, made us realize that we hardly ever went into the makeup portion of our costumes with an in-depth plan. There's a lot of shuffling of makeup and brushes and lipsticks between 6-12 ladies, and then before you know it, you're in the middle in a classic Diva Train (patent pending; see below) lacing up one diva, while another one cinches you in, and running out the door.
If you follow us on Instagram, you've seen that we (try to) post a #catchingoureye post every Friday, showcasing badass eye makeup looks we come across on the interwebs. It's a way for us to do some research while connecting with you and other artists. By the way, big ups to all the other creatives out there for always inspiring us to push harder and dig deeper into our craft!
This is something so cool about the creative spectrum- being able to blend your craft into another one that you're not the most familiar with, and feeling really good about what you've made. As a couple of women who wear no more than under eye concealer and mascara to work everyday, it's nice to hang our hats on that one day a year that we totally kill the makeup game. Well, at least within our realm of the makeup game :)
Be sure to check back in with us- we'll be dishing some of our favorite makeup products in our next post!
